MELT DOWN AT DISRAELI ROAD
One of our biggest electric kilns suffered serious damage last week.
At around 1200 degrees centigrade a glazed pot completely melted destroying all the heating elements and rods on one side of the kiln.
Fortunately these kind of accident is rare due to the vigilance of staff, technicians and the care of students, but uninsurable. A terrible time of year to have a kiln go down, just as students are trying to complete work before the end of the year. Also a terrible year, with the School’s budget kept very tight in order to keep fee increases to the absolute minimum.
The Friends of PSAD have stepped up to offer a fund of £2000 to assure a speedy repair is commissioned.
Also a number of students have kindly already offered to donate towards a kiln fund.
If you would be willing and able to donate, the Friends will seek to match fund any donations received. Please make any donations to Friends of Putney School of Art and Design, HSBC 40 05 31 51604783 with reference “KILN’ so we can ring fence the fund.
Including Gift Aid would increase your donation with no cost to you.
You can also donate via PSAD Friends Donation page, link here: PSAD Friends Donation.
