Putney School of Art and Design has introduced new courses !

We have visited two of the new courses at the new 3D Campus – Woodworking and Fine Art Textiles. They are held in the upper floor classrooms, next to the kitchen-cafe which provides light refreshment and social corner.

Introduction to Beginner’s Woodworking course is led by tutor Druid Fleming. Along those very new to this technique there are some more experienced students. Woodcarving  includes a broad spectrum of techniques – including architectural decoration, figure and abstract sculpture, letter carving and making objects such as spoons – an activity that is rewarding and comforting, and very noisy at times ! Almost any wood can be used, with Lime and Jelutong preferred for the beginners. Discarded wood pieces can be made into something very special.

Fine Art Textiles course is led by tutor Jane Millar. The course allows students to work creatively with materials and processes usually associated with textiles and provides opportunity to explore and combine a variety of accessible techniques.  Click Here for more details and photographs from the school exhibition of the current Fine Art Textiles students.

Here are few photographs from the both classes, taken by Sniez Torbarina.
